h0ngcom answers the Q1:
It is https://gran-turismo.fandom.com/wiki/Hong_Kong in GT4. It seems to be the only one Chinese circuit in GT Universe.
Currently, GT7's Asian circuits (not an Australian circuit) are limited to Japan. So h0ngcom agree with the Q1 question. Shanghai circuit seems to be the most famous Chinese circuit. However, h0ngcom don't think GT game will add Chinese circuits. There are many Asian circuits outside Japan to add.
h0ngcom answers the Q3:
Kaz has revealed the gaps in what Chinese cars might have a chance to enter the GT universe in the future.
(Although in practice, it is very difficult because there must be a deal between game company (Polyphony Digital Inc) and automaker company, such as agreements about copyrights and patents, as well as the game company is caring about the feelings of the game fans, in this case, they are mostly not okay with having cars from that country.)
Played a significant role in automotive industry : h0ngcom think "legendaries" are such as some Hongqi cars, Shanghai-Volkswagen Santana, Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, etc
BYD, SAIC, GEELY, CHERY, CHANGAN, etc, are Chinese automakers that selling millions of cars per year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_manufacturers_by_production
BYD also breaks "Japanese walls" by entered the Japan's car market. https://www.youtube.com/@bydjapan9544 (Japanese-style ads are making BYD cars look really better than usual! It adds JDM vibes!)
However, Toyota, VW Group and Hyundai Motor Group are still very strong in the world.
Kaz gives some key points to choosing cars to add to GT games.
Closely tied to people's lifestyles and cultures of their time : h0ngcom thinks there are maybe some "Chinese Mini EVs" (Baojun, Wuling, etc), Nissan Sylphy (best-seller), VW Lavida (best-seller), Tesla Model Y (best-seller), BYD Qin (best-seller), some Hongqi cars (cultures of its time), Shanghai-Volkswagen Santana (people's lifestyles and cultures of its time)
Stunning designs : h0ngcom thinks some Chinese EVs are looking good for sure. h0ngcom's wild guesses maybe Zeekr 009, Lynk & Co Z10, iCar 03, Li Mega, (Nio) Firefly, etc.
Met some key criterias : h0ngcom thinks there are some powerful Chinese cars such as Nio EP9, Hyptec SSR, Zeekr 001FR, Yangwang U9, Hongqi S9 concept, Techrules, BYD Han L EV AWD, etc.
h0ngcom thinks there are also some Chinese cars who won or nominated for some famous awards (recently), such as
ORA Funky Cat / Haomao (Top 3 World Urban Car 2023)
BYD Seal (Top 3 WCOTY 2024, winner 2024 Japan EV of the Year)
BYD Dolphin (Top 3 World Urban Car 2024, winner 2023 Japan EV of the Year)
Baojun Yunduo/Cloud/MG Windsor EV (Top 5 World Car Design of the Year 2025)
BYD Seagull/Dolphin Mini/Dolphin Surf (winner World Urban Car 2025)
The key criterion is that we genuinely like the car. : It is clearly that Kaz and Polyphony Digital Inc don't add the cars they don't like.
h0ngcom thinks the most possible situation for GT7 & GT8 is that Kaz and Polyphony Digital Inc don't add more Chinese cars than Xiaomi SU7 (Ultra) and Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo. h0ngcom thinks now it is easy to say that Kaz/PDI don't add them just because Kaz/PDI don't like them (or the automakers are not become GT sponsorships).
In the video, Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO, hopes to see more Chinese cars competing in GT game in the future.
In the video, it looks like Kaz just nods in agreement, but from the Kaz's criterias for selecting cars to be included in the game, it would still be very difficult for Asian cars that aren't Japaneses.
